Assistive Technology
Technology That Opens Doors
Assistive technology helps individuals with disabilities increase their independence, safety, and community participation through specialized devices and systems. At Strive, we're committed to finding the right technology to support each person we serve.
From simple communication aids to complex environmental controls, assistive technology can transform how someone navigates their home, their job, and their community.
Examples of Assistive Technology
- Environmental controls: lights, thermostats, door locks controlled by voice or app
- Communication aids: tablets and apps for individuals with speech difficulties
- Safety monitoring: bed sensors, fall detectors, wander management systems
- Daily living aids: adaptive kitchen equipment, dressing aids
- Job-related accommodations: workplace modifications and adaptive equipment
Funded Through Ohio HCBS Waivers
Assistive technology is a covered service under Ohio Medicaid HCBS waivers. The annual cap for Environmental Accessibility Adaptations (which includes AT) was increased to $15,000 per project as of June 15, 2026. Your SSA can help identify what technology fits within the individual's waiver budget.
