Remote Supports

What Is Remote Support?

Remote Supports lets a trained coach check in on someone — even when a DSP isn't physically in the home. Secure technology connects individuals to their support team at the right moment, without being there around the clock.

It's not a camera in every corner. It's the right person involved at the right time.

Remote support technology

Awarded a Remote Support Expansion Grant by Ohio DODD

Strive was recognized by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities for our approach to remote support technology. This grant is helping us expand what remote supports can do for the people we serve.

How It Works

  • A secure device in the individual's home connects to our support team
  • Our trained staff check in at scheduled times and in response to alerts
  • When needed, a DSP is dispatched in person
  • Family and caregivers receive updates based on the individual's preferences

Technology supplements human support — it doesn't replace it. The individual's plan always determines how remote supports are used.

Is Remote Support Right?

Remote supports work well for individuals who:

  • Want more independence but have safety considerations
  • Have a predictable routine that remote technology can support
  • Have family or staff who can respond when alerts are triggered
  • Want the privacy of their own space with a safety net in place

Remote supports are a covered service under Ohio Medicaid HCBS waivers (IO, Level One, and SELF).

Your Privacy Comes First

Remote supports are designed with dignity in mind. No cameras or microphones in private spaces. The individual and their family decide what level of monitoring feels right — and that choice is always respected.
